Electric wheelchair user
1. My requirements
My electric wheelchair is quite big. It is much wider and longer than most manual wheelchairs. Therefore, usual classifications as "wheelchair accessible" are not sufficient. In the following I will describe the changes which I have made for my version of you-too.
2. Optical changes
On the search page, I have added additional address items. The hints for beginners are no longer needed. My search page therefore looks quite different than the normal versions.
Items for people with sensual impairments are not relevant to me. I have remuved thesm. Also some items for wheelchair users are not of importance, for example, the length of ramps. When you up-call the page with my version of "my you-too" or have details shown on facilities, you will only see the items which are of relevance for me.
2. My individual filter
The pre-defined you-too filters do not suit my requirements as already mentioned. For example, I need an entrance width of at least 83 cm. Therefore, the filter "limited accessibility" is not sufficient for me. On the other hand, the requirements of the filter "fully accessible" are too high for me personally. I have therefore set my own requirements.
I have set no conditions for ranging areas. It is often difficult to set measurements. It would be better to have a ground sketch for all facilities available within you-too. Facilities must fulfil the following items in order to be accessible for me:
When you open the page "my you-too" in my version you will see the requirements which I have pre-set. You can also make any changes there. You cannot however save the changes. This possibility is to be given later but is not available as yet.
4.Comments
The individual filter is definitely of use as long as the appropriate, pre-defined filters are not available. For example restaurants in Bern: When I use the filter "accessible for wheelchair users", which is the only one that fulfils my requirements, only 13 restaurants are in the result list. When I use my own filter, 24 remain! A few more examples:
Hotels in Münster, fully accessible NO SINGLE ONE!
Hotels in Münster with my individual filter: at least 3
Museums in Bern, fully accessible: only the Museum for Communication
Museums in Bern, with my individual filter: at least 2!
At the moment not all functions used by the pre-defined filters are also available for the individual filters, for example the different items cannot be combined with "or". A solution should be found here.
